History OF PegOpera

The Pegase Opera project

The 14th of Octobre 2008, during a seminar in Liège, a project about enhancing operationality was proposed to the historical users of the Pegase model :

After many brainstorming, a specification was written and then, submitted to the partners at the seminary of 21st of octobre 2009 in Liège.

Following this seminar, AERM, AELB and AGE-GDL decided a three-years help program to realise a part of the submitted specifications running over 2010-2012. SPW joined them, to implement a supplementary part of the specifications through a convention running from 2011 to 2015.

Some development releases (α, β and RC) have been provided as soon as possible, to end-up end 2012 with version 5.1 of PegOpera.

The α version

During a workshop in Metz, the 3rd of june 2010, on the basis of the Graphical User Interface Framework in development, the α version has been presented. It contained some views:

Icon File type File content
.listbv View of the digitised River Network, and other layers
.nstdeb evolution of the daily average flow
.nsttmp evolution of the daily average water temperature
.nstlux evolution of the semi-hourly insolation

Some dedicated editors:

Icon File Type File Content
.pegase Simulation Configuration File
.parnst Unsteady Parameters
.appsol Parametering of the Soil leaching functions
.parrej Generic and Default parameters for releases
.seqeau Definition of Quality Standars SEQ-Eau, S3E, IPO etc...
.sortie Flags identifying output files produced
.evosol Evolution of soil leaching functions
.q_inout Abstractions and Water supply
.q_mesu Average flow measured (or characteristical flows) for steady-state simulation

It was possible to export some data files as .xls files, .csv files (with choice of separator) or .dbf files. It was also possible to import them to their original format. The importable/exportable files were either base files (.000) or stations and releases data files.

It was possible to start simulations using a PC port of the version 4 of the model and to exploit the result produced.

The daily average results could be viewed as coloured maps, curves along the river or time series.

The β version
