Data for Pegase
Input Data
The amount of data necessary to gather in order to perform
Pegase simulations can look huge.
It is necessary to consider though:
- in a general way, this data is normally collected by the administrations in charge of the
management of surface water (it is therefore not needed to perform specific measurement campaigns)
- the absence of some data, although useful, does not prevent from doing some simulations with hard coded default values
- if some processes ar of a minor importance in some watershed,
it is not necessary to spend a lot of time and effort to collect the related data (e.g. semi-hourly
sunlight energy data is not useful if there is no or few phytoplankton)
The main input data to collect are:
- Map backgrounds
- Digital Terrain Model (DTM) or Digital Elevation Model (DEM)
- land use (Corine Land Cover…)
- Digitisation of hydrographic zones outline
- Digitisation of municipality outlines
- Watershed Data
- River Digitisation
- River Network Topology
- Network Singularities (canals, dams…)
- Releases and Loads
- Urban releases (location + inhabitant-equivalent + link with WWTP)
- Industrial Releases (location + load + link with WWTP)
- Waste Water Treatment Plants (WWTP) (Location, capacity, abatement)
- Livestock (bovines, pigs…)
- Hydro-meteorology
- Daily average flow measured at a few gauging stations where the flows are representative of the watershed behaviour
- Natural Temperatures of water at a few measuring stations
- Insolation
- Misc.
- Quality measurements (not used for calculations, but required for validation)
The following table shows a summary of data required:
Pegase: Inventory of required data
